We are committed to the Paris Climate Agreement and our objectives, to be achieved by 2030, are carbon neutrality in our own operations and emission reductions of over 30% in construction, using 2019 as the baseline.
We promote the achievement of the objectives at Kuopion Maaherra as follows:
Emission calculation
Among other things, carbon footprint calculations are used in residential construction for choosing materials that place less burden on the environment.
Renewable electricity at a construction site
Wind-generated electricity is the only source of energy used at construction sites.
Recycling at a construction site
At least 75% of the construction waste at a construction site is being sorted for recycling.
Water fixtures
Kitchens, bathrooms and toilets are equipped with water-saving water fixtures such as taps.
Waste sorting system at home
Kitchens are equipped with a waste sorting system to help with recycling.
Recycling at a housing company
In a pipeline-based collection system the waste is inserted into the pipe through a hatch located on the external wall of the residential building. The waste travels straight through the pipe to a recycling location, which makes the use of garbage trucks redundant.
Solar panels
Zero-emission energy helps in covering the energy consumption of technical building systems, such as ventilation, and the building’s shared facilities.
Electric car charging points
All the parking spaces include the option to install a charging point for an electric vehicle, which makes the installation of the charging device possible as needed.
Carsharing
Being able to rent a shared car in the housing company in an easy and affordable manner reduces the need for an own car.
Water consumption
Apartment-specific monitoring of consumption in YIT’s own service channel (YIT Plus) helps in water-saving.
A-energy class
The house is very energy efficient and the energy needed is from renewable sources as much as possible.
