Road maintenance leads to further discussion every season and year after year. Timo Paavilainen, YIT Technical Director for maintenance, answers the most common questions.

YIT’s SORAMIX work method that is used in gravel roads saves time, money and the environment. The Pyhäjoki–Vihanti 790 road in Raahe was repaired by using this method.

YIT offers you the opportunity to follow the buzz in a beehive from May to August in summer 2022. Beehives have been brought in to help with road maintenance to pollinate nearby plants, and a camera placed at the entrance to the hive captures the bees as they enter and leave the hive.

Wildlife is recruited for the Hamina-Vaalimaa road maintenance contract, as bees will be brought to pollinate the food plants of rare butterflies in summer 2022.

Give all road maintenance professionals peace to do their work and not stop them unnecessarily, and, in particular, please do not go to the cockpit to give them your feedback or to make threats.

Road users give a lot of valuable feedback on road maintenance all year round. However, if the feedback is given through the wrong channel, it may take a long time for it to reach its intended recipient.

Car tyres, kitchen furniture, sofas, household appliances, old abandoned cars, batteries, oil canisters, bottles full of urine, drug syringes, lawn mowers, chainsaws, bicycles, sex toys, tins, renovation waste from bathtubs to asbestos. The list of waste left on roadsides and in rest areas is long. The bill for cleaning it up is ultimately paid by the taxpayer.
