The Hamina ring road is one of the most important components of the improvement of the E18 road. The first phase of the project included constructing a ring road approximately 9 km long, as well as carrying out the related road arrangements between Summa and Kolsila.
National road 7 is part of the E18 motorway, which connects the largest cities, seaports and airports in Southern Finland. The road is the most significant international transport route in Finland. The project included the completion of the EU-approved motorway standard road from Ring Road III to Vaalimaa.
The Hamina ring road* is one of the most important components of the improvement of the E18 road. The first phase of the project included constructing a ring road approximately nine kilometres long, as well as carrying out the related road arrangements between Summa and Kolsila. The contract included the construction of the Husula concrete tunnel, just under 500 metres long, and the 150-metre-long Kolsila tunnel, excavated into bedrock.
The Hamina ring road project was carried out by Haminan Kehä, a consortium of YIT and Kesälahden Maansiirto.
*The Finnish Transport Agency’s official name for the project is the Hamina bypass.
