Ranta-Tampella, Tampere

Construction of the area started in autumn 2016 and the first residents moved into their homes in 2018.The central location of the apartments near the city centre and the shores of Lake Näsijärvi create the setting for a unique residential area.

A canal will be built in the centre of the new residential area, running from Lake Näsijärvi to the mouth of Lake Tammerkoski. The canal, with its footbridges and promenade, will create a distinctive atmosphere in the district. The whole of the Ranta-Tampella district will be encircled by a promenade.

The Ranta-Tampella project involves several players and has a total value of around €900 million. YIT is the largest developer in the area, with a building capacity of around 80 000 m2 (floor area). The entire site is expected to be completed by 2030.

Ranta-Tampella will be one of the largest construction sites in Tampere in the coming years. The area will be built in several phases on the waterfront of the Tampella area as an extension of the city centre on the shores of Lake Näsijärvi. A total of more than 2 000 new homes will be built on an area of around 16.5 hectares.
