Veritas head office, Turku

We have built business premises for Veritas Pension Insurance Company in Kupittaa, Turku. Ecological values were at the core of the construction project, and the premises were designed to be adaptable.

The construction work started in March 2019 and was completed in October 2020. The turnkey contract covered the construction of an office building with a floor area of about 10,000 square metres and a separate parking facility with about 200 parking spaces. The tiles of the building's facade change their colour as sunlight changes. The Veritas head office is one of the companies that will operate in the modern, eight-storey office building.

Ecological through and through

Energy efficiency and environmental friendliness were taken into account in the technical solutions. Special attention was also paid to healthy indoor air.

As regards energy solutions, the important principles were responsibility and low energy consumption. The building has district heating, but geoenergy is its primary source of heating and cooling. The 18 geothermal wells on the plot produce a significant share of the heating and cooling energy needed for the building. Solar power is used as the energy source for ventilation.

The Veritas head office has been awarded the Breeam Excellent environmental certificate.

Developing the Kupittaa area

The building is located in Kupittaa, Turku, with excellent transport connections. With this project, YIT continues to develop the Kupittaa district. YIT’s past projects in the area include the Original Sokos Hotel Kupittaa and a campus of the Turku University of Applied Sciences. The head office is being built next to the new sports hall which YIT completed earlier.

We are also very pleased that the new owner is Veritas Pension Insurance Company, which has its roots in the Turku region,” says Jukka Lämsä, Vice President at YIT.

“When we designed the new head office, the themes of sustainable development were at the forefront. We want this to be a project that has a minimal environmental footprint. At the same time, we are looking forward to providing modern and functional premises to our personnel and others who will move into the building,” says Veritas’ Real Estate Director Peter Karlsson.
